Spellbinding is in full swing now - students have posted comments about the books they have read.

Below are the 10 books that the Spellbinding reading group will be starting after half term:

On Monday, Mr Medley presented certificates and prizes to all the students who took part in the Spellbinding Book Award this year. Congratulations to everyone and well done to those who managed (or very nearly managed!) to read all ten books.

Mrs Turnbull and 2 Year 7 students travelled to Penrith for the Spellbinding Award Day.  The three shortlisted books were  The Enemy by Charlie Higson , Candor by Pam Bachorz and Unhooking the moon by Greg Hughes.  Students from schools all over cumbria voted for the overall winner - which was Unhooking the Moon .

Welcome to Spellbinders 2010!  The challenge is for you to read  the six books by the end of May. We'll post some suggestions on this blog to help you to get the most from your reading. Yesterday seven students from Year 7 represented Trinity School at the Spellbinding day held at the University of Cumbria in Newton Rigg. Over 100 students from schools all over Cumbria met to discuss the three shortlisted books and to decide the overall winner. After a morning of discussion about the books - Ways to Live Forever, Blood Ties and The Declaration - the winning book was announced by the guest storyteller, Niall de Burca. He is pictured here with Trinity School's Spellbinders! The Spellbinding Award for 2009 went to "Blood Ties" by Sophie MacKenzie. We have copies of this book in the library for everyone to enjoy.

Students who are taking part in Spellbinding this year can log on to a course on Moodle. There are tasks for you to do and you can rate the books online. In May you will be able to vote for your top 3 books. Don't forget to use your new Moodle logins and passwords.
