Groups of Year 7 and Year 8 Students began
Spellbinding (Cumbrian Secondary Schools Book Award) just before half term.
There are ten books on the shortlist this year:

¨ Wilderness Roddy Doyle
¨ The Red Necklace Sally Gardner
¨ Runemarks Joanne Harris
¨ Bearkeeper Josh Lacey
¨ The Carbon Diaries 2015 Saci Lloyd
¨ The Declaration Gemma Malley
¨ Blood Ties Sophie McKenzie
¨ Ways to Live Forever Sally Nicholls
¨ Message in a Bottle Valerie Zenatti
Each student is attempting to read all ten books by the beginning of May. They will be completing reviews, taking part in discussion groups and then deciding which of the books they thought was the best.
Some students will be attending the county Spellbinding Award Day in June where students from other schools will decide the overall winner—the best book!
